The AGM was held at the Bell Inn, Lower Broadheath, on 11th March 2019 at 8.00pm.
Twenty four members attended. Apologies were received from Mike Stephenson and Bill Danks.
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
Copies of the 2018 meeting were circulated to members, these were approved by the meeting. There were no matters arising from these.
ACTING CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
Pete Howells welcomed all present and thanked them for coming, it was a good turnout for an AGM. Pete paid tribute to three section members who had died in the last twelve months – Francis Guy, Doug McMillan and our chairman for the last 23 years, Roy Lambert. The past year had been a successful one for the section with meetings and runs being well supported. Pete listed the events that the section had put on in 2018 – 23 runs, 3 pub nights, 6 breakfast meets and 4 midday meets and a section stand at two Malvern Classic motorcycle shows.
John Porter endorsed the chairman’s remarks about the last year being a good one for the section. The section had arranged a full programme which was a lot for a small section, we have a similar programme of runs and events for 2019. Thanks were due to those who had organised runs and events. The secretary reminded all present how fortunate we were to have organisers for all the runs. The secretary then outlined the situation with the Malvern Show, both the April and October events are now part of the Malvern Festival of Transport. The October 2018 show was held in the Severn Hall which had no facility for displaying our section banners which resulted in a rather sad looking stand. The forthcoming April Show will be back in the Wye Hall in our usual spot, we will need to consider our stand equipment for the October Show as it will be back in the Severn Hall.
Les Bennett produced a balance sheet detailing income and expenditure which was circulated to members. This reported that the club funds now stood at £262.83, a decrease of £64.00 on last year. The adoption of the accounts was unanimously agreed by the meeting.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Richard Caddick had previously been nominated as chairman, proposed by Pete Howells and seconded by Richard Bullock. The meeting unanimously confirmed Richard as section chairman. The current officers and committee are as follows:- John Porter (secretary), Les Bennett (treasurer), Pete Howells, John LaCroix, Richard Bullock and Mike Stephenson. It was proposed that the existing officers and committee be re-elected enbloc, this was unanimously agreed by those present on a show of hands. There were no volunteers for the vacant post of Social Secretary. Pete Howells then congratulated Richard Caddick on his election as chairman. Richard responded by thanking all present for attending.
There being no further business the chairman closed the meeting at 8.15pm.
DATE OF NEXT SECTION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – Monday 9th March 2020.
John Porter, Section Secretary 12th March 2019
